£17m star ‘ready to leave’ amid Old Trafford links

Manchester United target Sasa Kalajdzic is a “fantastic” dressing room presence, says journalist Jacque Talbot.

The Stuttgart star is one striker the Red Devils are thought to be considering and could be on the move this summer. However, they face competition from Wolves for his signature.

What is the latest news involving Kalajdzic?

While United have been focusing on improving their midfield, agreeing a deal with Real Madrid to sign Casemiro, up front is also an area Erik ten Hag seemingly wants to strengthen.

Earlier this month, Sky Sports reported that Kalajdzic is one forward the Manchester club have been looking at.

The 25-year-old is into the final year of his contract at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, so he is a very realistic option for United.

Whether the Old Trafford outfit make a move for Kalajdzic before the transfer window closes, though, remains to be seen.

What has Talbot said about United target Kalajdzic?

Talbot has told GIVEMESPORT that Kalajdzic is likely to be available for around €20m (£17m) and is a role model in the dressing room.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “His agent’s very talkative. I think with him, Stuttgart have always known he’d leave. He has a bit of an injury record problem, but he’s 25 and he’d come at a relatively cheap fee of sort of €20m. There’s an acceptance that if he leaves Stuttgart, they won’t bump up the price too much.

“Also, the big thing about Kalajdzic – he’s a very tall player as well – he’s supposedly a fantastic dressing room presence, like a really shining example of how a player should be, not in just terms of leadership, but also in terms of being a role model, that kind of thing.”

How has Kalajdzic started the season?

Kalajdzic has not been able to get on the scoresheet in any of Stuttgart’s first three games of the new Bundesliga campaign. However, in the clashes against RB Leipzig and Werder Bremen, he was still able to make a significant contribution.

The 6 ft 7 Austria international came up with three assists in those two games, with two of those coming in a 2-2 draw away at the Weserstadion.

Overall for Stuttgart, Kalajdzic has scored 24 goals in 60 appearances, netting 17 times back in the 2020/21 season.

As a starter, some may have their doubts. Kalajdzic, who has only reached double figures for league goals once in his career so far, is not a prolific striker yet. But as a squad option, for just £17m, you can understand why United would explore it.
