Arsenal, Man Utd and Newcastle ‘interested’ in €60m-rated winger

Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United are all “interested” in signing Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby, according to reports.

The winger was first linked with a move to the Premier League back in 2020.

The 22-year-old came through the ranks at PSG but he has been with Bayer Leverkusen since 2019.

The six tightest Premier League title run-ins with nine games to go

Diaby has been an ever-present for the German side over the past three years. He is currently enjoying his best season to date.

He has grabbed twelve goals and seven assists from his 24 Bundesliga outings. With his Europa League contributions, he has 16 goals and nine assists this term.

SPORT journalist Patrick Berger has revealed via Twitter that Arsenal, Man Utd and Newcastle are the three English teams “interested” in the Frenchman.

He notes that the player does not have a release clause but Leverkusen value him at €60m.

Elsewhere, Jamie Carragher has explained an edge Tottenham and Manchester United have over Arsenal in the race for Champions League qualification.

The Gunners lost 2-0 to Liverpool at the Emirates on Wednesday night, but still hold the crucial fourth spot in the Premier League.

They are one point above United in fifth having played two games fewer, and three points above Spurs having played one game fewer:

Despite that advantage, Carragher believes “special” players like Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Cristiano Ronaldo could give those teams the all important advantage in their bid to finish fourth, though he thinks Arsenal “will just do it”.

“The fight for Arsenal is to get into the top four. Forget Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City.

“The results have been poor against them. It doesn’t matter what your results are like against certain teams – it’s how many points you get [at the end of the season].

“And they’re in a fight with Tottenham, and they’re in a fight with West Ham, and Manchester United. The difference tonight when I watch Arsenal is I think Arsenal are a better team than United and Tottenham but they’ve got individuals who can do special things, like Harry Kane and [Heung-min] Son, or Ronaldo.

“That’s probably what they lacked tonight. [Martin] Odegaard gets that chance, Harry Kane probably puts that in or Ronaldo puts that in.

“But I think the team he’s set up, the togetherness, the way they play, it looks like a proper team. A well-coached team and I think they’ll just do it.”
