Jamie Carragher has suggested that Arsenal have an advantage in the top four race as they have “games in hand and no European football”.
The Gunners currently sit sixth in the Premier League. They have at least two games in hand on Man Utd and West Ham above them.
Arsenal were not in action over the weekend as their scheduled opponents – Chelsea – were playing in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Remember when Ronaldo was going to win Man Utd the title?
Man Utd meanwhile dropped points on Saturday as they were held by Southampton at Old Trafford.
Ralf Rangnick’s side are back in action on Tuesday night as they face Graham Potter’s Brighton.
Carragher believes the race for fourth in the Premier League “will go to the wire”:
“I think it will be tough for West Ham to get in the top four,” Carragher said (via The Metro).
“Arsenal, what a win that was for them away to Wolves. The games in hand, no European football.
“You think about how long Manchester United will be in the Champions League, that could play a part. It feels like it will go to the wire.
“I think it will go all the way to the end. Arsenal, do they have enough forwards? Spurs look to be in trouble.
“Right now I’d think you’d take them out of it. Wolves look [like] a really good team.
“With Man United, scoring goals is the hardest thing. They are really struggling for any sort of continuity. They seem to be lacking confidence, belief and a system that works for them.”
Elsewhere, Arsenal and Newcastle United are interested in signing AC Milan ‘sensation’ Rafael Leao.
Leao has had spells at Sporting Lisbon and Lille but he has been with AC Milan since 2019.
The 22-year-old has provided ten goals and six assists from his 26 appearances across all competitions this season.
Fichajes are reporting that Arsenal and Newcastle are keen to sign the ‘sensation’. They are said to have ‘knocked on his door’.
The winger is under contract until 2024 and the report adds that the two clubs intend to make an offer for him this summer.
