Chelsea News: New owners line up Man Utd transfer target as Hakim Ziyech replacement

Here are your latest Chelsea football.london headlines on Saturday, April 16.

New owners eying up Hakim Ziyech replacement

Hakim Ziyech’s future hasn’t really been questioned in recent times but Chelsea’s links to a certain Eredivisie winger may put his short-term Blues career in doubt amid previous links to Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund respectively. This is because the Blues are reportedly showing an interest in Ajax’s much-coveted winger Antony ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

As per reports in Spain, the Blues are said to be one of five possible destinations for the Brazilian playmaker, with the 22-year-old a ‘more than valid option’ for the Stamford Bridge outfit, as they seek further reinforcements this summer. Both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner have also been namechecked as possible players to want to exit this summer but the Brazilian’s arrival would certainly decrease Ziyech’s game time which he would not want to happen as he has a battle on his hands as it is to win back his first team spot following a mini spell on the bench.

The family released a statement to PA Sport: “The Ricketts-Griffin-Gilbert group has decided, after careful consideration, not to submit a final bid for Chelsea FC. In the process of finalising the proposal, it became increasingly clear that certain issues could not be addressed, given the unusual dynamics around the sales process.

“We have great admiration for Chelsea FC and its fans, and we wish the new owners well.” So, the Chicago Cubs owners have opted not to submit a final offer for the club. The consortium members, including US billionaires Ken Griffin and Dan Gilbert, we’re unable to agree on the final ingredients of the offer.

Chelsea drop major Crystal Palace FA Cup hint after shock Romelu Lukaku decision touted

Chelsea have dropped the biggest hint yet that Timo Werner will be starting in the FA Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace despite recent Romelu Lukaku developments.

A few weeks ago, who would be starting in the front three for the Blues would always be an easy question to answer. Kai Havertz would have been spearheading the front three with two of Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount and Hakim Ziyech operating on the wings. However, the form of Werner in the last two games has suddenly thrown a spanner in the works and now has left manager Thomas Tuchel in a tricky situation.

Three goals scored against Southampton and Real Madrid respectively have finally given Chelsea fans a glimpse of the player they thought they had signed two summer transfer windows ago when Marina Granovskaia activated the £47.5million RB Leipzig release clause. Performances that hadn’t only impressed the manager himself but also the usually critical Rio Ferdinand and Joe Cole who have been doubters of the Blues’ No.11 like many other pundits during his English stay to date.

“We talked up Timo Werner following the weekend, and he hit the woodwork about three times that day, so he has found that little bit of confidence and in this game, he didn’t look like a player who had only played a few games over the past couple of months,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport after the Real Madrid clash. “I thought he was very bright today, and I’m sure he has come in and done exactly what Thomas Tuchel asked him to do. He stretched them, was bold and was busy, and he got his goal and an assist.”
