Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has little interest in signing for Man Utd in the summer if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, according to reports.
The Serbia international has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for a couple of years now with the Red Devils looking to sign the right central midfielder.
Milinkovic-Savic has been in brilliant form yet again for Lazio this season, contributing nine goals and ten assists in Serie A as they battle for a place in next season’s Europa League, while they have an outside chance of making the Champions League.
There’s no joy of six – let the ‘elite’ have their Super League
Another side struggling to qualify for next season’s Champions League is Man Utd with the Red Devils drawing to Leicester and losing to Everton this month.
Victory over struggling Norwich City on Saturday boosted their chances of a top-four finish with rivals Arsenal and Tottenham both losing but Spurs are still in the driving seat to get the final Champions League place.
The win over the Canaries moved Man Utd up to fifth, three points behind Tottenham and level on points with the Gunners, who have a game in hand on Ralf Rangnick’s side.
However, if the Red Devils fail to get that fourth spot they could find some of their transfer targets are harder to acquire in the summer window.
Italian publication Il Tempo (via Sport Witness) insists that Milinkovic-Savic is one of those players having doubts about a potential move to Man Utd.
It is claimed that the Lazio midfielder is ‘at the centre of a real market auction’ with the Premier League club and Paris Saint-Germain the main interested parties.
Il Tempo claim that the Serie A outfit will not let him go for ‘less than €70-80m’ with PSG a ‘qualified buyer’ and Man Utd being interested in him ‘for some time’.
However, they say that moving to Man Utd in the summer is now ‘less welcome than other clubs’ with the prospect of them missing out on a place in Champions League.
It is understood that Milinkovic-Savic’s dream is to sign for Real Madrid but the report adds that as of yet Los Blancos have not made any move.
