Jadon Sancho names his favoured Manchester United position

Jadon Sancho will be hoping for a better second season at Manchester United after a rather slow start back in English football.

United spent £73million on the England international when they signed him from Borussia Dortmund last year, but he has struggled to hit the ground running at Old Trafford.

Sancho, 22, only managed five goals and three assists in 38 appearances this season, though he did show some real signs of encouragement with his form earlier in the calendar year.

If he manages to find his feet in the years ahead, then Sancho could join a long list of United greats and in a recent Q&A he was asked which former club players he would have loved to share a pitch with.

“Eric Cantona, Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes, Roy Keane, Wayne Rooney, Nani – the list could go on and on,” he said. “They were all big characters so I would have loved to have played with all of them.”

The inclusion of Nani is somewhat of a surprise given that he did not achieve the same legendary status as the other five on the list, though, as a fellow winger, it is easy to see why Sancho would have been inspired by his approach to the game.

Despite being signed to solve United’s right wing issues, the former Dortmund man actually made 27 appearances on the left wing for United this season.

Sancho was also asked which position he prefers playing in, and he admitted he prefers to be utilised as a forward rather than a wide midfielder. He added: “Attack. [On which side?] I don’t mind, as long as I’m playing.”
