Jesse Lingard’s heartfelt plea to Ralf Rangnick before Man Utd exit was blocked | Football | Sport

It appears the Premier League side are content to continue paying the player’s £100,000-a-week wages for the final months of his contract to provide backup to the likes of Marcus Rashford, Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes.

It is unclear how Rangnick will react to the move from the club’s hierarchy, given the German is expected to move into a consultancy role after his interim role ends at the conclusion of the current campaign.

But the tactician hinted he would not like to keep a player at the club against their wishes when addressing Paul Pogba’s future earlier in December.

“If a player does not want to play for a club like Manchester United medium or long-term, I don’t think it makes sense to convince him to change his mind,” he said.
