There’s always fireworks whenever Roy Keane is on punditry duty.
Whether it be on Sky Sports or ITV, the Manchester United legend delivers pure TV gold on a regular basis and it’s part of the reason why he’s such a popular figure among football fans these days.
At the start of the 2020/21 season, when Premier League football was unfortunately behind-closed-doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Keane lived up to his reputation and made the coverage of Liverpool versus Arsenal on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football as entertaining as possible.
It was a game the Reds won 3-1 at Anfield, with goals from Sadio Mane, Andy Robertson and Diogo Jota cancelling out Alexandre Lacazette’s opener.
Overall, Liverpool were pretty darn convincing on the night but Keane – like he always seems to do – thought different to everyone else and labelled Jurgen Klopp‘s side “sloppy”.
The Liverpool boss overheard Keane’s rather brutal assessment of the performance when he came live-on-air for his post-match interview and the German just couldn’t keep silent about it.

A slightly bemused Klopp said: “Did I hear right that Mr. Keane said we had a sloppy performance tonight? I could hear you already. Did he say that?”
Keane replied: “I think they gave up one or two opportunities that they’d be disappointed with.”
Klopp, who was still slightly confused, added: “Did he say that? ‘This was a sloppy performance tonight?’
“I’m not sure I heard it right. Maybe he was talking about another game. Cannot be this game, sorry. That’s an incredible description of this game. That was absolutely exceptional – nothing was sloppy. Absolutely nothing. From the first second dominant against a team in form.

“About this game tonight, there’s nothing bad to say.”
Keane responded: “I said there were sloppy moments but I think you’ve been outstanding. I’ve been giving the club nothing but praise, so I’m not sure if you heard me correctly there.”

You just can’t beat a clash between two footballing titans on live TV, can you?
Once the fiery interview was over, Keane cheekily said to Dave Jones inside the studio: “Very sensitive, Jesus. Imagine if he’d lost.”
