Jurgen Klopp on Mo Salah’s contract

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been warned that selling Mohamed Salah may not work out as well as previous big-money departures from Anfield.

Salah has been linked with the Anfield exit door with his contract at the club set to expire at the end of next season and Klopp could decide to cash in on him this summer rather than allow him to leave for nothing. But former Manchester City ace Micah Richards believes that cold prove a risky tactic.

It comes as Salah’s move to Liverpool for just £34m in the summer of 2017 could increase the price of an AS Roma star Manchester United reportedly have their eye on. And Philippe Coutinho has spoken about his “beautiful story” at Liverpool.

Coutinho’s “beautiful” Liverpool claim

Aston Villa playmaker Philippe Coutinho says he had a “beautiful story” at Liverpool after appearing to effectively end his Barcelona career.

The Brazilian has joined Reds legend Steven Gerrard’s Villa on loan until the end of the season after his time in Spain failed to work out. Coutinho joined Barca for a whopping £146million fee in January 2018 but made only around 100 appearances in almost four years with the club.

He is expected to move during the summer, and has been linked with a permanent transfer to Gerrard’s Villa, but has spoken fondly about his time with the Reds.

Klopp sent Salah warning

Micah Richards has warned Jurgen Klopp against selling superstar forward Mohamed Salah – saying things may not work out as well as when he let Philippe Coutinho join Barcelona.

The former Manchester City full-back says Coutinho was the “best player in the league” when the Reds finally parted ways with the Brazilian following a long transfer saga. But with Salah now rumoured to be courting interest from some of Europe’s top sides ahead of his contract expiring at the end of next season, Richards thinks it would be dangerous to let lightning strike twice and allow the Egyptian to leave as well.

Salah could impact Man Utd plans

Mohamed Salah’s arrival at Liverpool from AS Roma for just £34m in the summer of 2017 could impact Manchester United’s transfer plans this summer.

United are well-known to be in the market for a new forward this summer with Cristiano Ronaldo’s future up in the air and Edinson Cavani set to leave when his contract expires. That has reportedly led them to look at former Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham, who is having an outstanding season in Italy.

Abraham has bagged himself 23 goals in all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s side this term, but Salah’s nominal fee when he joined Liverpool could mean the Italians are reluctant to let the striker leave on the cheap.
