Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho would be ‘unbelievable’ at Liverpool, according to former Tottenham ace Jonathan Woodgate.

The England midfielder joined United from Dortmund last summer in a deal worth around £72million and he struggled to adapt to life at Old Trafford, particularly given the turmoil on and off the pitch at the Theatre of Dreams.

However, Sancho’s impressed in the last six weeks and has become a key figure under Ralf Rangnick, who feels the winger is starting to show the type of form that made him one of the most sought-after players in world football.

Sancho continued his upturn in displays with a fine performance in United’s 4-2 win against Leeds on Sunday, supplying two assists at Elland Road.

But, even though Sancho is now starting to show some fine form at United, Woodgate says he would have been better off moving to Liverpool.

Speaking on Match of the Day 2 after United’s win in Yorkshire, Woodgate said: ‘He was exceptional you need a bit of time to settle in and you need a manager to really, really believe in you and what you can do.

‘He’s started to play a lot of games now for United and he’s showing how good he is. Coming back from Germany you need that time and at Man Utd at the moment it’s not been great has it.

‘I tell you what he’d be an unbelievable player for Liverpool him. He’d be unbelievable. He’d fit into their system no problem.’

Sancho’s form convinced United to loan out Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek in January, to Sevilla and Everton respectively.
