MANCHESTER UNITED and Chelsea’s pursuit of Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong has been handed a blow.
The Barcelona playmaker has revealed his intentions to stay at the Nou Camp for ‘many more years’ to come.
Chelsea have been linked with a £50m move for De Jong, with Manchester United also claimed to be interested.
Elsewhere German giants Bayern Munich are reported to have ‘made contact’ with De Jong’s agent over a possible transfer.
But speaking to The Guardian, De Jong has quashed rumours that he could be leaving Barcelona, despite the lack of silverware at the club in recent years.
He revealed: “I’m very happy I’m at Barcelona: from a young age I’ve wanted to be here, so in that way it has been a dream come true.
“But I would have liked to win more trophies than we did in my first two years. I expected more in that sense, let’s put it that way.
“But other than that, I’m very happy here and hopefully [will be here] for many more years.”

The news comes amid further reports that Barcelona are prepared to listen to offers for the 24-year-old for the right price.
The club’s woeful finances have led to suggestions De Jong could be sold in order to help ease pressures off the pitch.
However De Jong himself has seemingly put those rumours to bed.
The Dutch international has been an ever-present for Barca this season, starting 18 out of 19 of the LaLiga games he has been available for.
In total he’s played 122 times for the Catalan club since joining from boyhood club Ajax for a reported £65million in July 2019 .
