Storm Eunice had been wreaking havoc across the country for several days now and it had a clear impact on Sunday’s match, but United rose to the challenge.
“The conditions in the second half was really bad, to be honest,” Maguire told Sky Sports.
“The half that we were playing in and defending was really waterlogged so we came out at the start of the second half and played as if we normally would in the first half, dribbling, trying to win those one-on-one battles.
“We knew we got caught on it too much, especially in the first five minutes of the first half, so we had to get used to the conditions. But yeah it was old school, so many tackles. I’m sure it was good to watch a game like that but, thankfully, we came out on top.”
