Man Utd: ‘Doesn’t want to leave’

Manchester United star Jesse Lingard “does not want to leave” Old Trafford, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The 32-cap England international is out of contract in the summer, but Jones believes that he would like to remain at the Red Devils in an ideal world.

What is the latest news involving Lingard?

According to the Daily Mirror, Lingard already has several offers from other clubs, including from AS Roma and former manager Jose Mourinho.

The attacking midfielder has barely played this season, with his appearance against Norwich City over the weekend being just his second start in the Premier League.

Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the top flight this term, he was not named in United’s starting XI once, really putting into perspective how difficult things have been.

Lingard will now be hoping that he can finish the campaign strongly to either convince United’s next manager or land a deal at another top outfit.

What has Jones said about Lingard?

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Lingard does not want to leave United with a new manager coming in, believing that it could represent one last chance for him at Old Trafford.

Speaking to GMS, the football journalist said: “This is exactly why Jesse didn’t leave in January. He was praying for one more chance to stay at Man United. He doesn’t want to leave; he just does not want to leave Man United.”

Should Lingard leave United this summer?

You can understand why Lingard would want to stay at United, his boyhood club, but given the attacking talent they already have and are likely to bring in, it is hard to imagine him nailing down a spot in the team.

Considering that, joining another side like Roma or Newcastle United, who tried to sign him in January, is probably in his best interest.

Lingard has shown that he is too good to spend all of his time on the bench, with the 29-year-old making an incredible impact at West Ham during the second half of last season.

He was given minutes under David Moyes and did not disappoint, scoring nine times in 16 league appearances.

It is also, of course, a World Cup year. Lingard needs to be playing if he is to have any chance of making Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

Taking all of that into account, be it Roma, Newcastle, West Ham or someone else, Lingard should definitely join another club this summer.
