RUUD VAN NISTELROOY is being lined up as PSV’s next manager, according to reports.
The Manchester United legend is yet to manage at senior level, but has impressed in other coaching roles.
Van Nistelrooy coached PSV’s Under-18s between 2018 and 2021, before taking charge of Jong PSV, essentially the reserve side.
His team are currently 11th in the Netherlands’ second tier.
According to Dutch outlet Ed, decision makers at PSV feel he has done enough to earn the top job.
Current boss Roger Schmidt could still win the title this season, trailing Ajax by just two points at the top of the table.
But he is expected to leave at the end of the campaign, having failed to agree terms on a new contract.
Van Nistelrooy, 45, could be joined in the dugout by an experienced No2.
Reports suggest that Fred Rutten could be the man to fulfil the role.
The 59-year-old managed PSV between 2009 and 2012 and would help Van Nistelrooy settle in to senior management.

He last managed Anderlecht in 2019, being sacked after just 13 games in charge.
In addition to his current role with Jong PSV, Van Nistelrooy also assists Louis van Gaal with the Dutch national team.
He held the same role with the Oranje set-up between 2014 and 2016.
