Manchester United and Liverpool are on alert after Monaco reportedly dropped their asking price for midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
The 22-year-old is an integral player for Monaco, having made 41 appearances already this season. He has found the net on three occasions and also registered two assists.
Tchouameni cost Monaco €20million when joining from Bordeaux in January 2020. But the France international could leave for far more than that after impressing in Ligue 1 over the last two years.
The main English clubs on his trail are United, Liverpool and Chelsea. Elsewhere, interest stems from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
Previously, reports have put Tchouameni’s price tag at €60million, which equates to around £50m.
Goal, who cite reports in France, provide an update on the star’s future – and it is good news for the potential suitors.
The report claims Monaco will now accept bids worth €50m (£42m). The reason for the price drop is not given though.
Aurelien Tchouameni could move to the Prem
It is a surprising stance as Bordeaux will earn 20 per cent of the fee thanks to a sell-on clause.
Goal state Jurgen Klopp wants a new midfielder this summer as Jordan Henderson and James Milner are reaching the twilight years of their careers. That is more the case for Milner than Henderson, as the former Leeds man is 36.
Chelsea are also keeping tabs on Tchouameni’s situation as Thomas Tuchel is a big fan. However, their financial troubles, owing to sanctions on Roman Abramovich, could make a bid impossible.
For United, meanwhile, a firm decision is likely to be made once Ralf Rangnick’s managerial successor is found. Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag are both up for the role.
Tchouameni’s contract runs until 2024 and is worth just £19,000 a week. That fee will increase hugely if he moves to one of Europe’s top clubs in the summer.
Man Utd eye Sevilla goalkeeper
Meanwhile, United are reportedly set to meet the exit clause of Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou as doubts over long-term No 1 David de Gea resurface.
The 30-year-old has been one of the outstanding goalkeepers in La Liga this term. The Moroccan has made 33 appearances and been a major factor in Sevilla’s placing of second in the table. And while they have not quite managed to dampen Real Madrid’s seemingly-unopposed march to the title, Bounou has caught the eye.
Indeed, the Daily Mirror reports United have been keeping a close watch on his performances. The keeper – known simply as Bono – has been earmarked by scouts as a future signing for quite some time.
They state United officials have asked Sevilla to be kept abreast of his situation with his deal expiring in summer 2024.
Furthermore, the paper claims the £25m exit clause in his contract gives United a solid chance of his signing this summer.
