Steve Cooper ‘honoured’ to receive award

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper says he is “honoured” to have been named Manager of the Year by the Midlands Football Writers’ Association.

Cooper was appointed as Forest boss in September 2021 and has been the chief engineer of an incredible turnaround in form at the City Ground. The Reds had won just once in eight Championship matches when Cooper took the reigns from Steven Reid (interim manager) after Chris Hughton’s departure.

In the immediate weeks after his appointment, Cooper picked up eight wins from 15 – he lost just once in that time frame.

Forest learn what it will take to land Davis

Despite suffering a hamstring injury, Aston Villa loanee Keinan Davis is still a man in demand ahead of the summer transfer window.

Davis joined Nottingham Forest on loan for the remainder of the season after falling down the pecking order at Villa Park. The striker had been breathing a breath of fresh air at the City Ground, netting five times and contributing two assists in the process in his 15 appearances before sustaining an injury against Luton Town.

The injury blow has come at a crucial time for the 24-year-old, as Forest continue pushing for Premier League promotion. Cooper is, however, hopeful that Davis could return for the play-offs next month if the Reds are involved.

Forest boss bodes well for future of club’s loanees

Marc Guehi’s lasting relationship with Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper may give fans hope that he can convince the club’s current loanees to stay on.

Newly-capped England international Guehi has impressed at Crystal Palace this season, but made his name playing under Cooper on loan at Swansea from Chelsea. The centre-back still counts Cooper as his mentor.

If the strength of their relationship is true of Cooper and all loanees, it may help the Reds in their bid to keep the likes of James Garner, Djed Spence, and Keinan Davis at the club. All three have impressed this year during Forest’s march up the table.

Man United praise ‘exceptional’ Forest amid ticket update for FA Youth Cup final

Manchester United have had to make more tickets available for Nottingham Forest supporters after the Reds smashed through their initial ticket allocation for the FA Youth Cup final.

The Reds were given an initial 680 tickets by United for the Old Trafford showdown, but Forest fans have shown an “exceptional” level of support with more tickets now put on sale.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Forest said their supporters would be housed in block E230 at Old Trafford. However, by Wednesday, tickets were no longer available in E230 or E231 so blocks E232 and E233 have now been opened up for Reds fans too.
