Man Utd set for ‘clear and frank discussions with £63m star

Manchester United need to have “clear and frank” discussions with Marcus Rashford at the end of the season, claims journalist Dean Jones.

The 24-year-old’s future is currently up in the air amid a difficult campaign at Old Trafford.

What is the latest news involving Rashford?

Rashford is thought to be considering his future at United after falling out of favour under interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

It was reported last month by The Guardian that the English forward has grown unhappy with his lack of game time this term and is now considering asking for a move away from his boyhood club.

He was snubbed by Rangnick in United’s recent 1-1 draw against Leicester City despite the German being without Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani, showing just how low down he is in the pecking order right now.

Rashford was brought on as a second-half substitute, but the £63m-rated star not making the starting XI in the absence of Ronaldo and Cavani is quite telling.

What has Jones said about Rashford and United?

Jones thinks things are leading up to a serious conversation between Rashford, the club and Rangnick’s successor.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the football journalist said: “I think they’re just going to have to have clear and frank discussions at the end of the season and once we know who the manager actually is. Until that appointment is made, we have no idea as to how Marcus Rashford fits in.”

Who could Rashford join if he does decide to leave Old Trafford?

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain have looked at Marcus Rashford in the past. Considering that, perhaps they could be a possible destination, especially if Kylian Mbappe departs the Parc des Princes in the summer.

Jones also recently told GMS that he expects the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle United to enter the race for Rashford if he does become available, so it does look like the England international will have options.

While Rashford is having a difficult time now, he is obviously a very good forward overall, scoring over 100 goals for club and country by the age of 24. Therefore, it would not be a surprise to see several teams register their interest in signing him in the next transfer window.

A lot, of course, is likely to depend on United’s next manager and what his plans for Rashford are. If he guarantees him more game time, then there probably is not a reason for the attacker to leave Old Trafford.
