Man Utd star’s respect to Man City before derby

Cristiano Ronaldo showed respect to Manchester City before the Manchester derby on Sunday.

Manchester United and City are fierce rivals.

It’s fair to say that the two teams don’t like each other very much.

Ronaldo has done battle against City on a number of occasions and, as a Man United legend, could be forgiven for not liking Pep Guardiola’s side.

But he was caught on camera showing respect to City before the match.

Footage was taken of Ronaldo and Casemiro as they made their way into City’s stadium ahead of the match.

The 37-year-old spotted the logo and, in a show of respect, side-stepped to avoid stepping on it.

Casemiro was walking in front of Ronaldo and could also be seen walking around the Man City logo.

Ronaldo and Casemiro are not the first players that have done their best to avoid stepping on Man City’s logo.

Luis Suarez, who spent three years at Liverpool, returned to the Etihad Stadium with Atletico Madrid earlier this year.

The Uruguayan, as well as Ángel Correa and Rodrigo de Paul, were seen making their way onto the pitch at the Etihad Stadium.

After seeing Correa and De Paul about to walk on City’s badge, Suarez stopped them and instructed them to walk around it.

Roy Keane: Man United are disrespecting Ronaldo

Ronaldo was an unused substitute as United lost 6-3 to City.

Roy Keane accused the club of disrespecting the 37-year-old after the match.

“I think United are just showing disrespect to Ronaldo, he should’ve been let go before the end of the transfer window,” he said, per Manchester Evening News.

“The manager said he’s holding onto him. Okay, you need options but you don’t keep hold of Ronaldo to sit on the bench. He’s one of the greatest players ever, this idea that he had no options – that’s rubbish.

“He had options, he had four, five good options. The manager brought on (Anthony) Martial who scored two but generally speaking, the bigger picture, he’s not going to play Ronaldo, we’ve seen him play a few European games, it’s just going to get uglier as the season goes on.

“Okay, Ronaldo’s motivated with the World Cup coming up but if he’s sitting on the bench for Man United week in, week out, it’s not good. It’s just going to get ugly. I think United have showed nothing but disrespect to Ronaldo and they should’ve let him go when he had the chance to go. He had options, I know that for a fact, holding on to him to sit on the bench is ridiculous for a player of his stature. Could he have brought him on? Course he could’ve, so what if you’re 4-0 down?

“You look at his goal record it’s as good as anyone for putting the ball in the back of the net. People are obsessed with the pressing side of the game but you put the ball in the right areas he’ll score goals.”
