MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly tabled an offer to bring Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo to Old Trafford in the summer.
The 22-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Nou Camp at the end of the season with his contract to expire in 2023.
United are known to be admirers of the Uruguay international, who joined the club in 2018 from Boston River.
And the Red Devils were put on red alert last month after it was claimed the defender rejected a contract extension from the Catalan club.
Spanish media then revealed last week how United were planning a ‘big investment’ for Araujo as they look to bolster their backline.
Now it has been said that United have firmed up their interest in Araujo by making an official offer to the player.
According to El Chiringuito, United have presented the 2021 Copa del Rey winner with a lucrative salary proposal.
They state that Ralf Rangnick’s side are willing to pay Araujo £8million-a-year, which works out at £154k-a-week.

It is not yet known whether Araujo has rejected United’s proposal or not.
Araujo has impressed for Barca this term – chipping in with three goals in 25 games in all competitions.
Blaugrana boss Xavi recently spoke of his desire to tie the ex-Rentistas ace down to a new deal, insisting it is a priority.
The 2010 World Cup winner remarked: “Araujo’s contract extension is one of the priorities
“We definitely want to extend his contract as soon as possible.
“Araujo is giving us a lot and he is highly esteemed in the club and the dressing room.”
