Reports in Germany claim Manchester United are keen on signing RB Leipzig’s man-of-the-moment Christopher Nkunku, who has quite simply set the Bundesliga and Europe alight this season. The tricky French attacker has been in scintillating form at club level, attracting interest from a whole host of Premier League sides, while also turning the heads of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Nkunku once came close to joining Arsenal under Unai Emery when he was made available by Paris Saint-Germain in 2019.
The former Gunners boss was well aware of Nkunku’s talent and star potential from his time at the Parc des Princes before making the switch to the Emirates Stadium.
However, Arsenal failed to capitalise on the opportunity, instead allowing Nkunku to join Leipzig.
Since then, he hasn’t looked back – elevating his game to the next level this season under both Jesse Marsch and Domenico Tedesco.

Furthermore, the uncertainty surrounding Mason Greenwood’s future will also encourage United to explore the market.
Intriguingly, Nkunku can play in up to four positions; left midfield, attacking midfield (No 10), right midfield, and as a second striker.
He has operated from all of the above at various points this season and has been one of the standout players in the Bundesliga and European competitions.
Nkunku’s current Leipzig contract does not contain a release clause, meaning potential suitors are free to try and negotiate a deal at any price.

Transfermarkt currently value Nkunku at just under £50m (£49.50m) – which would be a considerable fee for any club.
As someone who knows RB Leipzig well, the presence of Ralf Rangnick could favour United if they are to make a move.
The German interim boss, who will move upstairs into a consultancy role at the end of the season, left the club just before they signed Nkunku from PSG.
Now he could seek to utilise his Leipzig connections to help United conclude a summer deal.
