Both players recently had one-year options in their existing deals triggered, but Romano says the Red Devils want to tie them down for even longer.

Man United contract news – Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot

Erik ten Hag has confirmed that United have extended Rashford and Dalot’s contracts by another 12 months.

The forward and defender were set to become free agents at the end of the season, but they will now be expected to start the beginning of the 2023/24 campaign at Old Trafford.

It will come as good news to Ten Hag, who has relied on both players heavily this season.

As shown on Transfermarkt, Rashford has made 20 appearances under the Dutchman, while Dalot has also made 20.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about Marcus Rashford, Diogo Dalot and Man United?

Romano says United now want to tie Rashford and Dalot down to longer deals.

Speaking to GMS, the Italian journalist said: “Now there will be meetings with Dalot’s agents, with Rashford’s agents because the options were triggered as normal. It was already in the plans of Man United, but now it’s time to offer them a new long-term deal.”

Should Man United offer Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot new long-term contracts?

Yes, especially Rashford. As already mentioned, the two United stars have been very important players for Ten Hag this season.

The England international once again showed his worth on Wednesday after scoring a sublime goal against Burnley in the Carabao Cup.

Under Ten Hag, he looks to be back to his best again, so the Red Devils really should be doing all they can to get him to sign an extension.

For now, though, United at least do not have to worry about Rashford and Dalot, who are valued at around £76m combined by Transfermarkt, speaking to foreign clubs about potentially joining them for free at the end of the season.

At one point, it looked like the Premier League outfit were in real danger of losing Rashford to Paris Saint-Germain.

“He’s another player that is really amazing,” PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi told Sky Sports earlier this month. “To have Rashford for free, every club would run after him, definitely.”

If PSG want the England star next summer, though, they will now probably have to make a huge offer for him.
