Neville slams ‘tone deaf’ Man Utd stars on ‘global tour’

Gary Neville has hit out at “tone deaf” Man Utd players who have embarked on a “global tour” over the past week.

The Red Devils are currently sixth in the Premier League after only picking up four points from their last three matches.

Fourth-placed Arsenal – who have a game in hand on Man Utd – have now opened up a four-point lead over them in the race for the final Champions League spot, while Tottenham moved a point above Ralf Rangnick’s men with a 3-1 win over West Ham on Sunday.

Man Utd are facing increasing pressure from supporters after they were knocked out of the Champions League last week by Atletico Madrid.

With no game at the weekend, Man Utd now don’t play until April 2 and some of their players have decided to attend various events since their defeat to Atletico.

That has not gone down well with former Man Utd right-back and current Sky Sports pundit Neville, who has labelled the players “tone deaf”.

“I remember a time when United players, managers, executives wouldn’t be seen in their local Italian after a draw at home let alone getting knocked out of Europe,” Neville tweeted.

“This last week we’ve seen a global tour of F1 , Concerts, Cricket and UFC events. This lot are Tone Deaf!”

Meanwhile, Man Utd captain Harry Maguire says the squad must stick together as they fight to prevent a disappointing season heading into a tailspin following their Champions League exit.

“Of course it’s going to be a disappointing couple of weeks now,” Maguire said after the final whistle against Atletico.

“The lads need to go, have a rest but make sure that we come back fighting for the end of the season.

“We’ve got nine important Premier League games that we need to try to win every game that we play in, stick together.

“My job as captain obviously has a big role in that as well and making sure that we stick together and we finish the season strong – because we owe it to the fans.”
