Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got back on road with the club to watch his daughter Karna play for the Women’s team.

Solskjaer was sacked by United in November after a string of poor results ended in a humiliating 4-1 loss to relegation-threatened Watford.

But he returned to the club once again on Sunday to watch the women’s side take on Bridgwater United in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

United won the game 2-0 and progressed to next round of the cup thanks to Charlotte Buxton’s first-half own-goal and Ella Toone’s strike eight minutes from time.

Karna did also make her debut as she came off the bench for the final five minutes of the game – making history in the process as she and her dad became the first father and daughter to play for United.

Shortly after getting sacked, Solskjaer made his future plans clear and confirmed he will ‘probably’ return to management.

He told the club’s website: ‘I’ll spend some time with my family. That’s been probably the most difficult part, through the pandemic, with Norway being open and here being closed, my family moved back to Norway and the young one, he loves it back there, so we’ve lived apart.

‘So, I’ll spend some time with them. Then, I’ll watch the team of course and hopefully, the next manager comes in and I want to support him. I want him to be successful, hopefully I’ve laid the foundations for that to happen because I know I’m good at what I’m doing.

‘I’m one hundred per cent sure to create a football environment, that’s where I’m good at and at some point, I’ll probably be back [working in football].’

Since his departure, the Red Devils have picked up 19 points from 12 games and they currently sit fourth in the Premier league.
