The moment Jack Grealish sat down Man Utd star like it was nothing

Jack Grealish has come under plenty of scrutiny since signing for Manchester City to the tune of a British record transfer fee.

An untameable dynamo in midfield during his Aston Villa days, Grealish was never quite able to replicate that energetic and direct brand of football across his first season at the Etihad Stadium.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the 27-year-old recently said of his journey at City: “There were games last season where I didn’t perform to the best of my ability, but for me, it’s not all about goals and assists.

“I think nowadays people get so worked up and clued in to goals and assists. Listen, they mean a lot for attacking players but I just don’t think football is just about that.

“I hope during this second season I play more and play better – that’s what I need to do, no one needs to tell me that, I know that myself. But it takes a while to adapt to a Pep Guardiola team and his system, and so I’m sure I will.”

And while we’re still yet to see the avalanche of goal contributions that punctuated his time at Villa Park replicated in sky blue, there’s no denying that Grealish has shown signs of his improvement across his second season so far.

We’ll start easy…

Grealish impresses vs Man Utd

You really do get the feeling that the England star has further immersed himself in the frameworks and machinations of the Pep Guardiola system that makes City such a footballing juggernaut.

In fact, that was more than evident across his contribution to the Citizens’ 6-3 demolition job against Manchester United on Sunday, shining across 75 minutes of action in the derby triumph.

Collecting a solid 7.4/10 rating on SofaScore, Grealish turned on the style with three key passes, three fouls won, 100% accuracy with long balls and a 100% success rate from his dribbles.

Grealish vs Casemiro moment goes viral

Don’t believe us? Well, just ask Casemiro, because the United star got a front-row seat for the Grealish show at the weekend.

The high-profile summer signing from Real Madrid might well have fancied his chances against the likes of Grealish when he was introduced to the fray on 59 minutes, but he was by no means given an easy ride.

In fact, Casemiro might want to ignore his Twitter mentions over the next few days because footage of the moment Grealish sat him down at the Etihad is accruing some serious numbers.

That’s because Grealish made the process of putting one of the greatest central midfielders of the last 10 years on his backside look simpler than hitting a barn door with a banjo from two yards out.

In just a handful of lightning-quick movements with his feet, Grealish went from facing a fully poised Casemiro to watching as he started break-dancing in his own penalty area, so be sure to check out the viral moment for yourself down below:

Good times for Grealish, tough times for Casemiro

While Grealish is starting to find himself on an upward trajectory aligned with City’s successes this season, Casemiro must at least be getting the slightest of sinking feelings right now.

Don’t get it twisted, the Brazilian is a world-class operator who will come good in English football, but he’s got to be at least slightly bewildered that he’s hitherto been limited to just 82 minutes of Premier League football.

And in today’s day and age, when those 82 minutes include being put in the naughty corner by Grealish’s fast footwork, then you can rest assured that Twitter will something to say about it.
