Manchester United are planning to make ‘three significant signings’ when Erik ten Hag moves into the Old Trafford dugout, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
Ten Hag, who is currently at the helm of Dutch giants Ajax, will become the Red Devils’ boss at the end of the season.
Who is ten Hag looking to sign in the summer?
Ralf Rangnick, who has been in interim charge since last November, has claimed Manchester United need to sign up to eight ‘top new players’ to close the gap on Premier League title-chasers Manchester City and Liverpool.
The Daily Mail have revealed Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice, Brighton & Hove Albion star Yves Bissouma and Ajax defender Jurrien Timber are at the top of ten Hag’s shortlist.
But Manchester United are also preparing to battle it out with domestic rivals Chelsea and Arsenal for RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Christopher Nkunku.
Another RB Leipzig star who has caught the eye of Rangnick, who will move into a two-year consultancy role when ten Hag arrives in the red half of Manchester, is Konrad Laimer.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils have made an enquiry over Reims striker Hugo Ekitike, who has also grabbed the attention of Bayern Munich, Newcastle United and Arsenal.

What has Dean Jones said about the situation?
Despite Rangnick’s claims that Manchester United need to bring in the best part of a totally new starting XI, Jones understands the club are more likely to welcome three big-names to Old Trafford in the upcoming summer window.
The transfer insider is not expecting sweeping changes to be made to the Red Devils’ squad straight after ten Hag’s arrival.
Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “Rangnick keeps talking about making six, seven or eight signings. From what I’m told, it’s probably going to be more like three significant signings and that those seven or eight will happen over 18 months.
“It’s going to be small steps. It’s not going to be a sudden massive overhaul but, obviously, something’s got to change, massively.”
Should ten Hag look to splash the cash?
Manchester United’s 4-0 hammering at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion emphasised the size of the task awaiting ten Hag.
With just one match remaining, at Crystal Palace on the final day of the season, it is now impossible for the Red Devils to qualify for the Champions League or even finish higher than sixth in the Premier League standings.
Only Newcastle United, Southampton and the bottom three have conceded more goals than Manchester United, which is a worrying statistic and further demonstrates that ten Hag needs to strengthen the squad considerably.
