Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster believes Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha is not a “s***house” but is a player who can become very “aggy” in the midst of Premier League action.
Zaha scored a wonderful winning goal to secure a last minute 2-1 away victory against Southampton in the previous game week. His victorious strike for Patrick Vieira’s side would have been even sweeter, as he has previously been shown two quick fire yellow cards for jostling with James Ward-Prowse and then sarcastically clapping the referee.
The Ivory Coast international has a reputation for playing on the edge of emotions, where his fire either results in him grabbing games by the scruff of the neck and inspiring Palace to victory, or potentially attracting the wrong kind of interest from the referee. But while many fans do target him like a pantomime villain, the Watford goalkeeper does not believe he is trying to antagonise players and fans like other “s***houses” in the Premier League.
“I don’t think he is trying to be a s***house, I just think he’s aggy – he’s aggravated,” Foster said to the Fozcast podcast. “He gets so lost in the moment he just forgets that he’s doing it.
“That is part of his game. I’ve got to say, what a player though, he is relentless. He gets the ball and goes forward, gets the ball and goes forward and he never turns back.
“I went his right side, it didn’t work, I went his left side and got something, he will find what works. He will try every avenue and he’ll find the best one that works and will just keep exploiting it.

“He’s brilliant, a very clever player. People do not give him that much credit, but he is a very clever player.” Zaha is currently enjoying the highest goalscoring Premier League season of his career.
As well as the more attacking approach of Vieira, Zaha has also benefitted with the additions of Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise, and Conor Gallagher of Chelsea. Palace can still realistically achieve their highest ever finish in the Premier League if they are able to finish their season strongly.
